Her calorie count skyrocketed to 10,000 each day as she also munched on of pizzas, burgers, chips and fizzy drinks.

The 30-year-old, from Brisbane in Australia, admitted she used to hate looking in the mirror to see her obese 18st 8lbs, size 24 frame staring back – so last year she decided to make a change.

The mum-of-two ditched her calorific diet and now eats a healthier diet full of lean protein and nutritious carbs, while working out at the gym five days a week.

And after losing an incredible 6st 4lbs, Meg said she feels happier and more confident than ever flaunting her brand-new 12st 5lbs, size 12 figure.

“I was never overweight as a child or teenager and was always really active,” the customer services assistant said.

“But after I moved out of home, I had this new-found freedom that I’d never had before.

“I gained lots of weight really quickly. My friends and I would have movie nights and eat entire cakes and whole packets of biscuits.

“I was also in a long-term relationship, so I didn’t really care about how I looked as much as I should have.”

Meg’s diet consisted almost solely of junk food and chocolate.

“I’d easily eat four family-sized packets of chocolate daily. I was totally addicted,” she said.

“I’d bake whole batches of chocolate muffins or brownies and eat the entire tray all by myself.

“My breakfast would be eight slices of white toast saturated with chocolate spread, because I needed that chocolate hit as soon as I woke up.

“I needed chocolate every single day. It was an incessant craving.

“I knew that much chocolate and sugar wasn’t good, but I just couldn’t stop.”

Meg’s sugar-laden diet didn’t just affect her looks, it started to take its toll on her health.

It wasn’t until she saw a weight loss transformation show on the TV that she realised she could turn her life around.

“I was in a really bad place. I felt like crap every single day,” she said.

“One day I was sitting on the couch by myself, ready to eat a whole tray of brownies that I’d just cooked.

“It was late at night, and I turned on the television. This weight loss transformation show was on, so I decided to tune in.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. These people totally changed their lives and had lost so much weight. They looked incredible.

“After seeing that, something inside me just switched. I thought if they can do it, then I can too.

“I got up and threw the brownies in the bin. I also got rid of all the chocolate in the house.

“It was the final straw. I jumped on the scales and it said I was 120kg.

“I promised myself I’d never weigh that much again so I joined a gym and never looked back.”

Meg tried for years to lose weight on different fad diets but nothing ever stuck - and she would always revert back to her old habits.

She said a huge motivation for her to lead a healthier lifestyle was because she wanted to “set a good example” for her children Lucas, six, and Harper, one.

Since losing the weight, Meg said her relationship with her husband Richard, 31, is “better than ever before”.

While the former chocolate addict steers clear of junk food, Meg said she still allows herself two squares of dark chocolate a few times a week.

“Losing the weight and changing my life was the best decision I’ve ever made,” she said.

“When I was at my heaviest, I was eating so much terrible food.

“I would eat all that chocolate and sugar daily, and my son would see me and want to eat it too.

“Of course, I wouldn’t let him because it wasn’t healthy. But I could see that was confusing to him.

“If mummy was eating it, I knew he must have thought it was okay. But it really wasn’t.

“I knew I had to set a good example for them. Now they love eating their greens and being active like me.

“It feels amazing. My relationship with my husband is better than it has ever been, purely because of how I feel about myself.

“I have so much more confidence and I’m just truly happy. It’s wonderful.”
