Heartless eBay sellers are flogging Meghan’s Grenfell charity cookbook for a PROFIT at up to 70 per cent more than retail price
Copies of the book, out today, are being sold at up to 70 per cent more than the retail price
MEGHAN Markle’s charity cookbook has only been released today but shoppers haven’t wasted any time in flogging copies on eBay for a profit - despite all the cash being earmarked for charity.
The Together: Our Community Cookbook launched today for £9.99, and some sellers have listed copies online for up to 70 per cent more than the retail price.
The cookbook includes 50 recipes from women who run the Hubb Community Kitchen, an initiative based near the site of the Grenfell Tower in London.
In the Buy It Now section on eBay, prices range from £12.25 to £17.07, which is more than £7 more than the original asking price.
One of the books even has 12 people watching the listing, despite the book being available to buy from Waterstones for much less.
It is thought that some sellers had put the book up for sale on eBay before they had even got their hands on a copy.
All proceeds of the original purchase of the book will go back to the Hubb, but any profits made on eBay are likely to go straight into the sellers’ pockets.
The Hubb Community Kitchen was set up to help people affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Meghan first visited the kitchen in January and has made a number of other private trips to the centre to meet volunteers and learn more about their work.
She discovered that they could only open two days a week due to limited funding, so proposed creating a cookbook to raise money.
Some of the recipes in the book are family favourites and all have been created by the cooks who support not only residents affected by the fire but others in the community.
The charity book has already become a bestseller on Amazon, as numerous royal fans rushed to pre-order a copy.
It has even knocked JK Rowling’s latest Robert Gabbraith offering, Lethal White, and Jamie Oliver’s Italy down the charts.
Meghan Markle’s clearly inherited mum Doria Ragland’s fashion sense as the pair look chic at Grenfell charity launch.
Meghan will carry out her first official solo engagement as a member of the royal family visiting a Royal Academy of Arts exhibition next week.
She proved this week she is a natural with kids in a sweet encounter with young girl.
