Serena Williams paves the way in trend of brides ditching wedding heels for trainers
Blinged-up white sneakers just like the tennis ace's Nike Cortes are making waves on the wedding circuit right now...
IT MAY sound like an oversight straight out of Don't Tell The Bride, but more and more women are choosing to wear trainers on their wedding day.
Tennis ace Serena Williams, 36, rocked a blinged-up pair of Nike Cortes when she tied the knot with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian back in November.
Now dozens of brides are following suit, and turning their backs on a traditional pair of heels in favour of jewelled white sneakers - so they can dance the night away with their new grooms.
Posting about the gem-covered sneakers at the time, mum-of-one Serena said: "Yes I wore them down the asile! Comfort for this bride!"
Manchester-based wedding shoe designer Charlotte Mills said she's seen a huge an increase in demand for her bridal trainer personalisation service in recent months.
She'll embroider shoes with words like "bride", the wedding date or "Mrs Smith" - for a hefty sum of £150.

Charlotte told the: "Brides want something unique. Many pack them to wear on their honeymoons and love the all-day comfort and fun of them on their big day."
Of course, with most brides still opting for full-length gowns, you'd never know what shoes they're wearing underneath. Clever huh?
In more wedding news, bridal gowns with pockets are now a thing… and people are going wild for them.
