PRINCESS Diana’s former personal trainer has revealed her divorce from Prince Charles was “sprung upon her” and Lady Di “wasn’t the one who wanted to separate”.
Jenni Rivett, who trained the People’s Princess for seven years, grew very close to her and has lifted the lid on her troubled marriage.
Speaking to Yahoo’s series , Jenni revealed: “Often she’d come in and I could really sense in her energy that she was having a really bad day.
“As she said in her own words, there were three people in her marriage, and I think deep down inside she was very sad about that.
“She wasn’t the one who wanted to separate or have a divorce. It was kind of sprung upon her.”
Jenni went as far to say that Princess Diana wouldn’t have gone through a split by her own choice.
Jenni added: “I can tell you right now, it wasn’t what she wanted. She wanted to be a loving mother, which she was, and a loving wife.
“She absolutely doted on those boys. Just loved them. Given the choice she would have stayed and tried to make a happy marriage. She loved Charles.”
The fitness trainer said that she often discussed Princess Diana’s eating disorder struggles with her.
Jenni explained: “Yes we discussed everything because I am a clinical nutritionist as well so it was important that we discussed the whole aspect of her health.
Here's how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry paid tribute to Princess Diana
“It was such a wonderful thing to do to come out in the public and say ‘look this is me and I’ve had this eating disorder.
"It was incredibly brave of her because it helped so many other women.
“I loved her and I miss her so much. She was such a joy to be around.
"Just always a sadness about her. Always a sadness in her eyes.”
Jenni spoke of their close relationship and even revealed a sneaky trick Princess Diana had for avoiding getting photographed in her gym kit.
She said: “We did become very close and she confided in me and sometimes I used to say ‘please don’t tell me that story because if that’s in the press tomorrow you are going to think it’s me'.
“I remember one of her strategies was that she was going to wear the same Virgin Active sweaters every single session and I thought that was very clever of her.”
