Gigi Hadid wows in plunging black gown and Kaia Gerber shows off wild side in crocodile jacket as New York Fashion Week kicks off
Here's the lowdown on NYFW so far...
THE world's biggest names in fashion have flocked to New York this week, to celebrate the start of New York Fashion Week 2018.
And from Gigi Hadid in crocodile print to Kendall Jenner rocking a seriously cool pair of red leopard trousers, it's set to be a week of dreamy SS19 couture, enviable street style, show-stopping front row line-ups and - without a doubt - some wild and wacky outfits. Here's what's happening so far...
Models
Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber kicked off NYFW in the Big Apple by strutting their stuff down the Tom Ford runway.
23-year-old Gigi wore a plunging black gown with a crocodile corset belt and sheer cape.
The model teamed the look with slick black nails, golden strappy heels and copper shadow around the eyes.
Stealing the spotlight, Gigi wore her hair in a neat bun showing off her natural features.
Kaia meanwhile, oozed sophistication, wearing head-to-toe lavender.
The model graced the Tom Ford runway in a crocodile bodice, leather jacket and floor-length fringed lavender skirt.
Her hair was tied in a delicate lilac head scarf and 17-year-old Kaia - the daughter of Cindy Crawford - teamed her look with smokey copper eyes and her trademark full brows.
Model Joan Smalls also walked the Tom Ford show and graced the runway in a show stopping animal print jacket, halterneck corset and fringed brown skirt.
Trends
Animal print might be hotter than ever right now, but it certainly doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
If it's not Tom Ford showcasing a masterclass in how to wear crocodile print (black, brown, lavender - you name it) then it's celebs off the runway showing off their own wild ensembles.
Case in point: Kendall Jenner's dreamy red leopard trousers.
The summer sequin trend that took over the high street this year looks like it'll be making a comeback next summer (and with Christmas on the horizon, it probably won't be off the shelves for a while).
From sparkly boots to sequin dresses, the celebs can't get enough of the stuff.
Say hello to fringed skirts and dresses!
The sophisticated style was seen on and off the runway.
Both Kaia and Joan stepped out in floor-draping fringe wrap skirts.
And off the catwalk, Tess Holliday wore a textured green fringe dress complete with a statement red lip.
And speaking of beauty trends, we couldn't get enough of Gigi and Kaia's smokey copper eyes.
Here's to hoping that one catches on ASAP.
Wacky outfits
One of the best parts of any fashion week is being able to nosy at some of the weird and wonderful outfits.
From street style to catwalk, these looks are utterly bonkers, but we can't tear ourselves away.
Which look is your fave?
Front row
Tom Hanks and Anna Wintour were among the famous faces sitting front row at Tom Ford's SS19 show.
Actress Hailee Steinfeld and model Adriana Lima were also positioned up front at the star-studded event.
And NYFW has certainly attracted some of the best-dressed celebs, after other fashion-forward stars were spotted out and about, attending pre-fashion week parties as well as Refinery29's 29Rooms event yesterday evening.
From Bella Hadid to Kendall Jenner, fashion guru Olivia Culpo, Tess Holliday, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, the fashion pack have been out in full force - and wearing some killer trends.
Earlier this week, we told you about Kate Beckinsale and Abbey Clancy in nearly-naked gowns as stars party at GQ Men Of The Year Awards.
We also revealed fashion fans are going wild for this power blue H&M corduroy suit… and the skirt’s on sale right now.
And we showed you women are flaunting ‘pineapple boobs’ in bizarre topless Instagram holiday trend.
