This is why Prince Charles might NOT become King Charles III when he takes to the throne
PRINCE Charles may not become King Charles III when he takes to the throne, according to the Queen's former press secretary.
Dickie Arbiter reckons the Prince of Wales, 69, may choose to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and opt to go by one of his middle names - Philip, Arthur or George - instead.
The Queen's dad chose to become King George VI, despite his first name being Albert, however she chose to keep her name when she became monarch.
Dickie also controversially suggested that Prince Charles' wife Camilla will become Queen Consort when he takes over the throne.
"He might choose one of his other names Philip, Arthur or George," Dickie told .
"[Charles will] also be Lord of the Mann [Isle of Man] and Duke of Normandy. But generally he'll only be known as King."
Other titles the Prince of Wales will inherit include the Duke of Lancaster, Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England.
Dickie also praised his wife's "sense of fun and humour", which followed former royal press secretary Charles Anson's comments that Camilla "doesn't let [Charles] get too overburdened by the woes of the world".
However the exact title she will be awarded when Charles becomes King remains a question for debate.
Since the couple wed in 2005, Clarence House has maintained it is "intended" that Camilla will be known as Princess Consort.
