Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s BFFs must promise to never do this one thing – or they’ll be kicked out of the royal friendship group

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex want just one thing from their mates

WE imagine being mates with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle certainly has its perks (roast chicken dinners at Nottingham Cottage, nabbing an invite to the Royal Wedding, etc).

And although The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have plenty of pals, according to reports, their main concern is ensuring their close circle of friends are trustworthy and loyal.

In short, it means no talking to the press.

"They both expect a code of silence. If you talk to the press you’re out," according to royal correspondent Kate Nicholl (via ).

It's unsurprising, given that the newlyweds have been the most talked-about couple for the last two years.

Since rumours first emerged that Prince Harry was dating Suits actress Meghan in August 2016, the hysteria surrounding their relationship has only grown stronger.

And when the pair were married earlier this year in May, royal fever pitch reached its pinnacle.

The world, it seems, is obsessed with the newlyweds and now, 33-year-old Prince Harry is said to be growing concerned.

Nicholl also said Harry is uneasy about the mass attention surrounding Meghan - who turned 37 last weekend.

A source tells Nicholl: "He worries there is too much hysteria around Meghan and he wants to row back a bit."

According to friends, they're keen to have as much private time as possible.

And the couple have reportedly been renting a farmhouse on The Great Tew Estate in the Cotswolds.

"It’s very clear they want to be private and left alone," one local tells Nicholl.

"The property is in the middle of woodland and you wouldn’t know it was there. It is very remote which is why they like it. It’s like a fortress. There’s a huge security presence, you can’t get close."

The couple's retreat from the limelight isn't surprising given the family drama that's surrounded their relationship since the wedding.

Meghan's father, 74-year-old Thomas Markle - who was unable to attend the wedding - has given a string of damaging interviews, including one in which he claimed Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, would have "loathed" the way he was being treated.

Royal editor Camilla Tominey reminds us that the princes have done their best to keep their distance from the press since Princess Diana's death.

She : "The princes are both very private people and have tried their best to keep the press at bay ever since their mother’s death.

"They are extremely protective of their wives and families and will do anything to avoid a repeat of the 80s and 90s when they felt that Princess Diana was hounded."
