The best swimming pools and lidos in London – Make a splash from Brockwell to Hackney
Fancy a dip during the heatwave? We know just the right places for you to go...
SADLY London isn't blessed with any beaches, so going for a dip in the sea in the blazing heat isn't an option.
We do however, have loads of lidos dotted about the place, here's where they're all located...
Brockwell Lido
Close to Brixton tube station, Brockwell Lido is one of the largest in London.
The water is cold, but it's set in a set in a Grade II-listed art deco building, which makes it worth it for the 'gram.
At £5.95 for adults and £3.40 for children it's one of the pricier ones in London, but here you're guaranteed a space in the water even when it's ridiculously busy.
Parliament Hill Lido
Parliament Hill Lido in Hampstead Heath has a cafe outside which is very reasonably priced.
It's a very cold pool, so it's best to head when it's very hot outside.
The Grade II-listed lido was built in 1939 and charges £6 for adults on a summer day. Adult and child tickets are £8 and families are £15.
However, in early mornings and evenings the cost is reduced to £2.50 for adults.
Kings Cross Pond
Set in busy, industrial King's Cross, this newly built pond is a strike contrast to its surroundings.
It's a work of art, with the man-made grassy verges and red and white striped changing rooms standing out amongst the cranes and building sites.
If you go in the early morning it's only £3.50 before 8.30am, a slot which needs to be booked, and the 9am-4.30 period sees them charging £6.50.
London Fields Lido
Hackney's London Fields Lido re-opened in 2006 and it's always very busy on hot days.
Luckily for us, it's a heated poor so you can still go on days where it isn't a heatwave and not come out with frostbite.
There is a cafe here also, that sells tea for £1, a rare sight in London.
Adults pay a decent priced £4.80 and children only £2.85.
Hampstead Mixed Pond
Hampstead Mixed Pond is so close to central London but it feels as though you're in the rural countryside somewhere.
The pond, which resembles a lake is only £2, but you should bear in mind that it's very very cold.
However, that £2 does give you daily access to all three of the Hampstead ponds.

Serpentine Lido
A popular triathlon spot, The Serpentine in Hyde Park is always busy with serious swimmers.
The open-air swimming club destination unfortunately has no showers, which is a bit of a downside.
It costs £4.80 for adults to swim here and £1.80 for children, and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
