How did people get tickets for Princess Eugenie’s wedding and when did the public ballot take place?

PRINCESS Eugenie and her fiancé Jack Brooksbank have tied the knot.

The long-term couple had been dating for a number of years before Jack proposed while the couple were in Nicaragua earlier this year.

Their wedding was announced in early 2018, and a statement from the palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr Jack Brooksbank.

"Her Royal Highness and Mr Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month.

"The wedding will take place in the Autumn of 2018."

The date was later scheduled and confirmed for October 12.

Buckingham Palace made the announcement, saying: “Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would like to invite members of the public to join their wedding on 12 October, 2018, to attend inside the Precincts of Windsor Castle.

Eugenie and Jack were following in the footsteps of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who broke with tradition to invite 2,640 members of the public to their wedding.

They included some 1,200 young people and those who have shown strong leadership in their communities.

Making up the numbers were Windsor Castle community members, members of the Royal household and Crown Estate, schoolchildren, charity workers and those from organisations Harry and Meghan had a close connection with.
