From Personal Power Plate to T-Shape technology, our readers test out methods to try banish their dreaded cellulite for good

Up to 90 per cent of women are affected by the condition and although it is natural some women are insecure about it

THE telltale dimples of cellulite are perfectly natural, but still many women are insecure about the way it looks.

Up to 90 per cent of women are affected by the condition, which occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin.

If your orange-peel skin is getting you down, Fabulous Daily has tested fixes for you.

Here, three Sun readers who are affected by the condition have tried out different cellulite products to see whether the makers’ claims are true – and have given each marks out of five.

Rachel, 27, personal power plate

FULL-TIME mum of two Rachael Davies, 27, from Torquay, Devon, covers up when she hits the swimming pool with daughters Olivia, two, and Oriana, one, as she is self-conscious about her dimpled skin. To see if she can reduce her cellulite, she tested a Personal Power Plate for 30 days.

THE CLAIMS: Whole-body vibration helps to reduce cellulite. Research by Sanaderm, a skin disease and allergy clinic in the Netherlands, shows exercising on a whole-body vibration platform helps to eliminate the appearance of cellulite.

BEFORE: Rachael says: “I noticed cellulite when I was in my mid-teens but it wasn’t as bad as it is now.

“I’ve tried so many things to get rid of it. I’ve had massages to help circulation, they didn’t work. I’ve used many different cellulite creams and even an anti cellulite suction pad. I didn’t notice any difference.

“I eat super-healthily and exercise quite a bit but nothing gets rid of it. I’m so conscious of it and would only wear clothes that come down to my knees.

“When I take my daughters swimming I wear a wrap-around skirt attached to my swimsuit.”

DURING: “The Power Plate was really easy to use, and I enjoyed it. I watched a few YouTube videos showing me exercises to do and then used the machine for 20 to 30 minutes every day for 30 days.

“I mainly did the plank and squats, using resistance belts while squatting. I could feel the vibrations all the way through my body.

After the first week my legs felt really achy and my abdominal muscles were more defined. After week two, I saw a difference in my arms – they were getting toned and I felt slimmer around my bum.

“By week three the weight was just falling off. My abs were strong and my legs felt smoother.”

After exercise

“My cellulite is still visible, but I’m really pleased with the way I look now. It must have reduced slightly as it doesn’t bother me as much any more.

“After the fourth week I didn’t notice a huge change in my cellulite, but the definition in my muscles is really noticeable and I’ve lost half a stone, and my clothes don’t fit me any more.

“I’ve actually bought a few crop tops. I wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing anything like that before. I am really happy with the results.”

THE CLAIMS: A unique device combining three different state-of-the-art technologies for instant results.

T-Shape technology applies low-level laser, radio frequency and vacuum at the same time and guarantees visible results from the very first session.

BEFORE: Kim says: “As I get older I become more aware of my cellulite. In the last ten years it’s become really noticeable so I’ve become a lot more body conscious.

“It’s worst on the back of my legs, my thighs and bum. Sometimes friends will say, ‘Don’t wear that’ because you can see my cellulite. I’m conscious of my bumpy bits when I get naked with a partner for the first time and cannot remember the last time I wore a swimsuit.”

DURING: “I didn’t know what to expect from the T-Shape treatment but it felt like a dull pain, like you would feel with a deep tissue massage.

“The front and back of each leg was massaged for 20 minutes. Two out of the four modes hurt but the pain was manageable and the therapists kept checking to see if I was OK.

“I was a little bruised afterwards but felt fine.”

AFTER: “Straight away I could feel a difference on my right side. Running my hands across my right thigh and bum cheek, it felt a lot smoother.

“The day after, I ached as if I’d had an intense gym workout but it only lasted for 24 hours. I would definitely go back and have a complete course of eight sessions. I think a full course would make the results more noticeable. But I was pleased with the result after just one treatment.”

THE CLAIMS: Dry-brushing is the technique of running a brush against the skin to stimulate the lymphatic system and eliminate toxins from the body. It has been shown to calm inflammation, firm skin and reduce cellulite.

BEFORE: Jane says: “I’ve had cellulite on my bum since I was 18. I’ve stayed in shape since my early 20s but it’s always there, no matter how slim or toned I am.

“I always do core exercises for my glutes, to tighten and strengthen them, but it definitely doesn’t shift cellulite.

Recently I turned down a massage, as I was too self- conscious about the masseuse seeing my cellulite.
“It’s started to bother me and it makes a difference to what I wear.”

DURING: “I used the body brush every day on dry skin for 30 days, before I got in the shower.

“I then blasted myself with hot and cold shower jets afterwards as this boosts your blood circulation.

At the beginning I hated using the brush. It was really scratchy, especially if you’ve been in the sun or waxed your legs.

“It was uncomfortable on my skin during the first week, but I still did it every morning for ten to 15 minutes using short, upwards strokes starting with my toes, all the way up my legs, stomach, chest and arms. It made me bright red for ages afterwards. I was thankful I was not going on a date.”

After treatment

AFTER: “By week two, my skin started to feel softer and, by week three, although there was not that much difference to my cellulite, my skin did feel softer and also looked smoother.

“By the end of the fourth week, I was starting to see quite an improvement in my cellulite. So I am definitely going to carry on using the brush for a few more months, to see what will happen to my skin.”
