Who is designer J Mendel?
Specialising in couture gowns and fur jackets, was the design house behind Melania's Blenheim Palace gown.
Originally founded in 1870s St Petersburg, the French atelier first designed fur for the Russian aristocracy.
During the Russian Revolution, the company relocated to Paris before settling in New York in 1985.

As a fifth-generation fashion house, the current head Gilles Mendel has expanded into ready-to-wear pieces along with wedding dresses.
