Who is Harry Aubrey-Fletcher? Prince Louis’ godfather and William’s old school friend
Prince William has asked one of his oldest friends to be his youngest son's godfather
NO doubt about it, serving as a child's godparent is a big deal. Even more so when the child in question is fifth in line to the throne.
As Prince William has asked one of his oldest friends Harry Aubrey Fletcher to act as his youngest son's godfather, here's everything you need to know about the honoured aristocrat.
Who is Harry Aubrey Fletcher?
Like Prince Louis' other godfathers, Harry Aubrey Fletcher is another long-term friend of Prince William chosen for the honour.
The youngest son of the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Harry's father Sir Henry acts as the Queen's personal representative in the county.
Prince William first met Harry during their prep school years in Berkshire before they both attended Eaton together.
The Duke of Cambridge acted as an usher at Harry's wedding day to Louise Stourton in 2011.
What is his relationship to the Royal Family?
Harry has always had a close relationship with the two Princes.
While his father's position as Lord Lietenant of Buckinghamshire ensures a closeness with the Royal Family, Harry made headlines back in 2013 for playfully tugging on Prince William's ear during the 2013 Cheltenham Festival.
The newly-appointed godfather also attended Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19 this year.
MORE ON THE ROYAL FAMILY
Why has he been named Prince Louis' godfather?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have forged their own tradition when choosing godparents for their three children.
Instead of opting for immediate family members, the royal couple have instead chosen close friends and former Royal aides for the honour.
Harry Aubrey-Fletcher is sharing the role as godfather with nightclub owner Guy Pelly and Kate and William's long-term friend Nicholas van Cutsem.
