MEGHAN Markle appears to be growing out her signature tendrils, so could this be the end of her much-loved messy bun?

It wasn't just the Duchess of Sussex's canary yellow dress which got our attention at the 'Your Commonwealth' Youth Challenge Reception earlier this week - she also sported a sleeker hairstyle.

The face-framing hairs Meghan, 36, normally leaves loose - or tucks behind her ears - were pulled back into a tight knot.

It appears Prince Harry's beau may be adopting royal tradition by sporting a more polished look like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, 36, who's a fan of carefully coiffed up-dos.

Meghan even stuck to her favourite 'undone' look for the Royal Wedding, despite some criticism.

Speaking to People magazine after the event,  celebrity hairdresser Serge Normant, who styled her hair, said: "I really wanted it to be loose.

"There were a lot of little bits. I wanted her to be able to tuck it behind her ears if she wanted to do, because that is what she normally does.

"Her style is so easy and not contrived. I wasn't about reinvention. She has a beautiful head of hair and is gorgeous, so it was just easy."

While sociologist, image consultant and personal style guru Dr Anna Akbari described Meghan's look as a deliberate power move, in a chat .

She said: "I would say it’s no different than distressed or ripped jeans where there’s a sort of strategic messing-up that might make it look old or look cool—it’s in the same vein.

"My guess is it took more than it does when you put your hair in a messy bun to go to a workout class. It's not a half-a** messy bun.

"There are certain contexts in which strategically dressing down demonstrates a 'hipness'. It’s a different type of power dynamic than it would be if you were to wear a suit.

"Bottom line, (Meghan is) aware she's sending signals. I don't think anything that she's doing is haphazard."

Only time will tell if she goes back to her roots on this one, or if the Middleton-esque polished style is here to stay.
