The former actress has quit her job, left her home country and shut down her social media accounts, including her Instagram page and blog The Tig.

But being part of the world’s most famous family means more than just looking the part – there are also rules on what she has to eat now.

It’s likely the next few decades will be filled with meeting dignitaries, opening buildings, being the guest of honour at ceremonies and shaking hands with hundreds of people.

That’s why certain foods are now banned from the menu – including garlic.

The pungent food is considered to have a host of health benefits, but it doesn’t ward away vampires for nothing.

So offensive is the odour the Queen has reportedly banned it from her dinners, both at home and abroad, and assumes other members of the royal family will follow suit.

State banquets and dinners in exotic locations will now be garlic-free so as to avoid the social faux pas of needing a mint.

Darren McGrady, royal chef at Buckingham Palace, told the : "We can never serve anything with garlic or too much onions.

“The Queen would never have garlic on the menu."

But Meghan is believed to be a fan of garlic, previously revealing one of her favourite recipes to be “Filipino-style chicken adobo”.

She previously said: “It's so easy - combine garlic, soy, vinegar, maybe some lemon and let the chicken swim in that sauce until it falls off the bone in a Crock Pot."

The rules are only thought to apply to official engagements, so hopefully Meghan can still cook up a storm at home.

As well as garlic, there are other foods with Meghan will have to say goodbye to when travelling.

The list includes shellfish, due to its potential to cause food poisoning, not what you want when in the middle of an official tour.

Shellfish is said to be banned as it contains bacteria such as E Coli, and can cause DSP (diarrhoetic shellfish poisoning) and NSP (neurotoxic shellfish poisoning).
