Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Ireland trip – where are they, what’s their itinerary and where are they staying?

The exciting trip marks their first ever official trip as newlyweds

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have jetted away to do their first official foreign trip as a married couple.

They haven't travelled far as they headed to Ireland, but what do we know about the visit?

When was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Ireland visit?

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a short stay in the Irish capital on July 10 and 11.

They visited Belfast in March, however the Dublin visit marks their first ever official trip as newlyweds.

Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit Dublin, Ireland, on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th July.

“This visit is at the request of Her Majesty’s Government."

What is the itinerary for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Ireland visit?

During the two day trip, the Royal couple "will learn about Ireland's culture and heritage" and "visit organisations which are central to Irish life".

Harry and Meghan will firstly visit a Gaelic sports festival at Croke Park as well as attending the British Ambassador's summer garden party.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also visit Trinity College to see the world's oldest manuscript Book of Kells before paying their respects at the city's potato Famine Memorial.

After this, the newlyweds will visit the Irish Emigration Museum which tells "the story of the 10million Irish people who have emigrated across the world."

Prince Harry and his wife will also "learn more about the bright future of Ireland" with a visit to technology start-up DogPatch Labs where they will "meet children and young people taking part in free coding workshops."

The royal couple's busy schedule will also include meetings with The President of Ireland Michael Higgins and Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.

Where will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stay during the Ireland visit?

IrishCentral.com , which is the official Irish State guest house.

It was speculated that they might spend the night in the royal suite of Luttrellstown Castle, close to Dublin, which is where David and Victoria Beckham, and Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith, got married.

Rihanna previously stayed in the award-winning, five-star Merrion Hotel in the city centre.
