When was Prince George’s christening, where is the Chapel Royal and who baptised him?

CELEBRATING his sixth birthday today, it's been several years since Prince George of Cambridge was christened at the Chapel Royal.

When was Prince George christened?

On October 23, 2013, the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton was baptised at the Chapel Royal.

Prince George was born on July 22, 2013, at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, Paddington.

It was an non-traditional small ceremony with only 22 guests attending and he had SEVEN godparents announced.

The ceremony lasted only 45 minutes and there was a reception afterwards at Buckingham Palace.

Where is the Chapel Royal?

The Chapel Royal is at St James' Palace, close to Buckingham Palace in London.

It's situated on Marlborough Place just over the other side of St James' Park from the Queen's residence.

It is not open to the public unlike the Queen's Chapel.

However it is an active place of worship.

Who attended the christening?

Only 22 people attended the intimate ceremony back in 2013.

This included the seven godparents and their spouses, along with senior royals and four members of the Middleton family.

George's named godparents are: Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel, William van Cutsem and Zara Tindall.

Who baptised Prince George?

Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby conducted the ceremony.

He baptised Prince George in the 45 minute ceremony.

The hymns sung on the day were Breathe on Me, Breath of God and Be Thou My Vision.
