You can now get shampoo for your eyelashes… and it’s actually really useful

Nouveau Lashes are selling a foaming shampoo for lashes and lids

CULT eyelash brand Nouveau Lashes has officially launched a lash and lid cleanser that fans are calling a ‘shampoo’ for lashes.

And, despite it sounding like a total gimmick, it actually does make a difference to the health of your eyelashes and the life of your eyelash extensions, according to the brand’s founder, Bridgette Softley.

Nouveau Lashes have now introduced a ‘lash shampoo’

She told Glamour that an eyelash shampoo is perfect for giving your lash extensions a daily refresh and ridding them of anything that could be causing them to shed.

“A lash shampoo will freshen your lash extensions to banish all impurities, bacteria and irritants,” she said.

“Lash health is so important to us and this is an important step of the treatment aftercare,”

“We highly recommend using our Vegan friendly Lash & Lid Foaming Cleanser two to three times per week to keep your eyelash extensions perfectly cleansed, hydrated and moisturised, without effecting the adhesive bonds.”

The formula is packed with vitamins to nourish eyelashes

But what exactly is it – and what makes it so different to regular eye make-up remover?

“A large amount of skincare products like eye make-up removers and cleansers are oil-based,” explains Bridgette.

“The oily formula can loosen the bonds holding your lashes on, meaning you will need that infill appointment a lot sooner than you usually would. This product can be used to prevent losing your lashes too early.”

The good news is that it’s also great for non-lash wearers, too, as it contains vitamins and antioxidants which are extra-nourishing on lashes and the eye area in general.

Bridgette also revealed a number of tips to keep your eyelash extensions in tip-top condition:

  1. Always avoid steam rooms, saunas and water directly touching your eyelashes for 48 hours after getting them done.
  2. Never stand directly under the shower head, allowing your lashes to get wet. Be careful not to rub them with a towel afterwards, either.
  3. When sleeping, position your pillows around your head to reduce the chance of crushing one side – this can manipulate the shape of the lashes. You might also want to avoid sleeping on your front completely.
  4. Always stay on top of your infill appointments to ensure that lashes never get too sparse or fake-looking.
