DRY SPELL

The best of new-age dry shampoos, from tinted ones that cover greys to eco-friendly non-aerosol formulas

There's even a root-concealing one that'll cover up greys...

THERE'S nothing more tedious than having to cancel your evening plans because your barnet can't quite go another day without a good wash. Fact.

That's why it's important to always have a good dry shampoo on hand to help tide you by until you get a bit of down time.

And gone are the days when we had no other alternative but that same old powdery, gritty spray that needed rubbing into our roots for half an hour before we left the house and still left white patches in our hair.

Brands like Jen Atkin's OUAI (she's the Kardashian's hairstylist, FYI), Batiste and french pharmacy brand Klorane have all changed the game with their groundbreaking new formulas.

The best news? We put every single one to the test - so that you can get ordering without having to worry about trying before you buy.

  1. OUAI Haircare Dry Shampoo Foam, £24, from Cult Beauty -

Pricey? Yes. But we can guarantee it's worth every single penny. While it might feel strange to apply a mousse to roots that you actually want to dry out, it quickly absorbs into the hair, ousting any oiliness in the process. Oh, and your hair will smell exactly how we imagine Kim Kardashian's to as well. Score.

2. Klorane Eco-Friendly Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk, £9, from Boots -

This super-nourishing and moisturising oat milk formula has gained cult status in it's own right - and now french pharmacy hero Klorane have seriously upped their game with eco-friendly, aerosol-free packaging. Simply squeeze the bottle to release a pump of powder 10 inches away from your roots and rub it in to help it absorb any grease.

3. Batiste Dry Shampoo Plus Dark & Deep Brown, £3.99, from Superdrug -

Find yourself constantly having to conceal pesky greys? Or just sick of friends pointing out the white patch of dry shampoo at the back that you forgot to blend... this one's got you, ahem, covered. Available in 3 different shades, simply spritz into hair the same you would with the normal formula, leave to absorb oil and then rub it in. Clean-looking, colour-revived roots in a flash.

4. Duck & Dry Oomph! Dry Volume & Texture Spray, £14, from Feel Unique -

Posh girl hot spot and Chelsea-based salon Duck & Dry have launched their own product line, and their texture formula lives up to the hype. Think waterless wash and blow dry in a can - this'll give you one extra day before having to book in for your next blow dry and will add bouncy texture to locks, too.

5. COLAB Candy Dry Shampoo, £3.49, from Feel Unique -

Add extra dimension to your scent with a sweet-smelling dry shampoo

While some of us like that classic clean fragrance that most dry shampoos offer, COLAB have come through for the scent lovers among us. This will genuinely leave you smelling like a sweet shop (in the best way possible) and tends to be a little sheerer (meaning less rubbing in - genius).
