Here’s how to keep your fake tan from running on your beach holiday

Struggle to maintain your faux glow in hotter climates? St. Tropez body contouring expert Amanda Harrington gives us her tips on keeping it streak-free

FAKE tan can be hard to maintain at the best of times, but as soon as we go on holiday where weather is warm and there's chlorine to contend with, all of our flawless faux-glow plans go out of the window.

Anyone that's aware of the dangers of tanning naturally in the sun will prefer to tan from the bottle before their big beach holiday. Fact.

But the reality is, that even the most perfect of spray tans wont usually make it past day one of the holiday - as sweat, sun and SPF can all melt it off of our skin.

Amanda Harrington, a body contouring expert famous for her ab-defining spray tans, gives her advice on how to get the most out of your pre-holiday fake tan:

"I'll always advise my clients to make sure that they use an oil-free moisturiser to maintain their faux glow. But when they're on holiday, even if they are using an oil-free moisturiser, sun cream can interfere with the tanning agent on the skin. ALWAYS use a waterproof or sport-friendly SPF on top of self tan when you're away, as these are usually oil-free and will help to shield it from tan-stripping chlorine and water."

And when it comes to perfecting your application (because let's face it, nobody wants telltale fake tan marks when they're living it up on the beach)?

"I love Boots' Exfoliating Gloves paired with the St. Tropez Tan Enhancing Body Polish, that you can use to scrub away at your skin before applying any fake tan at all. This will make for the best base possible and means that tan will fade more evenly." says Amanda.

"Then, to stop self tan from gathering in drier areas such as ankles, wrists and knees, I'll use a barrier cream - E45 does the job perfectly. I smooth a thin layer over elbows, ankles, wrists, knees and anywhere else that feels a bit dry before applying any tan." She continues.
