Meet the latest in swimwear trends: the thigh high bikini

But no one could forecast this trend: the super high-cut.

The risqué style was first featured at Australian Fashion Week, and instantly became a hit.

The provocative and edgy brand, I.AM.GIA were the first to showcase it on their catwalk – where the bold models wowed in the eye-popping designs.

The designer is renowned for its statement and risqué styles – their capsule collection includes G-strings, glow mesh triangles, leather trousers and bondage pieces.

Whilst it was a resort wear collection, you’d be hard-pressed to wear any of these styles on vacation.

The barely-there bikinis were complemented with thigh-high skimming boots, leather jackets and neon makeup.

They weren’t the only brand to jump on board this trend. Other swimwear labels also decided to incorporate the revealing cut into their styles, albeit in a far more demure way.

Australian model Jessica Gomes sported the style and showed off her killer physique in a halter neck swimsuit.

Swimwear trends around the world are taking note of their Brazilian counterparts – who have always favoured barely-there styles and thongs.

The cheeky G-string style bikini continues to be a popular beachwear style, as women forgo traditional briefs in favour of cheekier styles.

Whilst a triangle bikini is always a safe beachwear choice, it’s time to change your tune.

Go high or go home, try the thigh-high style today.
