Why did James Blunt, Tom Hardy and the Clooneys get invites to the Royal Wedding? Here’s how all those ‘random’ celebrities know Harry and Meghan

WITH a guest list more than 600 it was inevitable that the net would be cast quite wide and include pals from various parts of Harry and Meghan’s lives.

But there were some unexpected faces making their way into St George’s Chapel earlier, so in case you’re wondering what the connections are, this is how all the wedding-goers made the cut.

James Haskell & fiance Chloe Madeley

As Prince Harry is an avid rugby fan and patron for the Rugby Football Union, he has been spotted joking around with the England player at a recent training session.

He got engaged to Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan’s daughter in Paris last month.

George and Amal Clooney

Meghan supposedly got to know Amal when she moved to Britain and they were introduced by a mutual friend.

They’re also rumoured to share a hair stylist, Miguel Perez.

Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy became an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust in 2010, which was founded by Prince Charles.

The Peaky Blinders star has made several appearances at the foundation’s events and often spoken about how much the charity means to him.

Oprah Winfrey

The star TV host has apparently spent six hours with Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland talking for a tell-all interview.

Serena Williams & husband Alexis Ohanian

The tennis champion with 23 Grand Slam titles under her belt became close to Meghan after they met at a charity football game in 2014.

On her now-defunct website The Tig Meghan wrote that they “hit it off immediately” and that Serena “quickly became a confidante”.

Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy

Harry’s former blonde flames.

He had an on-off relationship with Chelsy between 2004 and 2011 and dated Cressie between 2012 and 2015.

James Corden

James, 39, and Harry have been friends for years, and the Carpool Karaoke star reportedly bought the new Prince Louis a 23-book Beatrix Potter collection, said to cost around £540.

Both James and his producing partner Ben Winston have also made the guest list for the exclusive after party at Frogmore House tonight.

Joss Stone

The singer, 31, is an ambassador for Harry’s Sentebale charity and has performed at several of his charity concerts.

Harry’s such a fan of her music that one time when she was singing in Lesotho, he got up and started a conga line.

Sir Clive Woodward and Jayne Williams    

The former England rugby player and coach, 62, and his wife Jayne are no stranger to royal bashes.

They attended Wills’ and Kate’s in 2011 after he got to know the Princes during his seven-year stint as the national team’s coach.

Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Eliza Spencer and Louis Spencer

These are Diana’s nieces and nephews, as the kids of her brother, Charles Spencer and Victoria Aitken.

The eldest, Lady Kitty, 27, frequently models for Dolce & Gabbana.

Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer

The younger brother of Princess Diana is a historian and author and famously gave a shocking speech at her funeral.

Mum of Kitty, Eliza and Louis Spencer. She divorced their father Charles Spencer in 1997.

Princess Eugenie’s fiance.

A long-standing friend of Prince Charles. Her husband Hugh, a landowner and horse breeder, died in 2013.

Lizzie is heiress to the Holiday Inn empire. The couple married in Memphis, Tennessee in 2014, the location of the first ever Holiday Inn.  

James Meade

James “Badger” Meade has known the princes since childhood and school days at Eton.

The Meades are so close to Wills and Kate that they attended church at Sandringham at Christmas. He also gave a speech at their wedding and is one of Princess Charlotte’s godfathers.

John Major

Following the death of Princess Diana in 1997, former Tory Prime Minister John Major was appointed special guardian to Princes Harry and William, responsible for legal and administrative matters.

The 75-year-old has watched over the Princes ever since.

Daisy Jenks and Charlie Van StraubenzeeHarry has been mates with banker Charlie, 29, for years, having chummed up when they met at the same prep school.
