MEGHAN Markle won't have a maid of honour when she marries Prince Harry in two weeks time, but her decision has nothing to do with royal protocol.

The bride-to-be, 36, simply couldn't single out one best friend for the role, according to the Palace.

Harry, 33, on the other hand, had no problems naming his brother Prince William, 35, for the best man role.

He'll be returning the favour, after Harry took the reigns when Wills married Kate Middleton, 36, in April 2011.

But unlike Kate, who had younger sister Pippa Matthews by her side on her big day, Meghan will be going it alone.

"Ms. Markle will not have a Maid of Honour," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told Cosmopolitan.

"She has a very close-knit group of friends and she did not want to choose one over the other.

"They have all been actively involved in helping her prepare and will be there with her to celebrate on the day."

The Palace also confirmed that all of her bridesmaids will be children, which is royal protocol.

Meghan and Harry won't be revealing the names of their bridesmaids and page boys until a week before their big day on May 19.

We'll keep our fingers crossed for Prince George and Princess Charlotte then.

The young prince, four, and princess, three, are likely candidates - having already played the roles at their aunt Pippa's wedding to James Matthews last May.
