Royal expert reveals the sweet reason why the new prince won’t attend Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding
IT’S a busy time for the Royal Family, with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding following hot on the heels of the birth of the new royal baby.
Yesterday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child, a son who has yet to be named, and introduced him to the world on the steps of the Lindo wing at St Mary’s Hospital.
When Meghan and Harry’s big day comes around on May 19, the newborn won’t even be a month old.
So, will he secure an invite to the wedding?
According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, William and Kate will leave the little one at home.
He told the : “They certainly won’t bring the baby to the wedding, this will ensure that the focus is on Harry and Meghan as of course it should be.”
He added: “It is certainly expected that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are page boy and flower girl or bridesmaid.
“There is a long royal tradition where royal children play key roles at weddings which is charming.”
Kensington Palace has stated that the wedding will be “a family event”.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte did a sterling job as page boy and bridesmaid at Pippa Middleton‘s wedding to James Matthews last year – despite a minor tantrum from George.
At William and Kate’s wedding, the Duke of Cambridge’s goddaughter Grace Van Cutsem made headlines when she covered her ears on the balcony at Buckingham Palace as the bride and groom shared a kiss.
The new royal baby is fifth in line to the throne, having overtaken Prince Harry.
The baby boy’s arrival was especially significant for two-year-old Princess Charlotte, who made history thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013.
Princess Charlotte became the first female royal to retain her claim to the throne, despite the royal baby being a boy.
