Who is Sammy Woodhouse?

Sammy Woodhouse, 32, is a public speaker and campaigner who has spoken out about the sexual abuse she has suffered at the hands of Arshid Hussain.

She was just 14 when she met notorious paedophile Arshid, then 25-years-old, in 1999.

She was groomed into a relationship, where he was often violent, and she told The Sun Online: “Once we were in an argument and he went speeding up to the end of a cliff top, got me out of the car and threatened to throw me off.”

During their relationship, she was coerced into crimes such as robbery and drug dealing, which made her hesitant to come forward to the police about her abuse.

She became pregnant twice - when she was 14, she had an abortion, but had his child at the age of 15, when he had already been jailed for a violent attack.

Although when she first spoke about her ordeal she used the pseudonym Jessica, she has now waived her anonymity and has spoken with the BBC, Loose Women and Good Morning Britain about her experience.

She is now trying to implement Sammy’s Law, where she is hoping to ensure children will not be charged for crimes they committed at the hands of abuse.

Sammy is also calling for a change to the law that allows perpetrators to see the children born as a result of abuse.

How was she involved in the Rotherham sex scandal?

Arshid Hussain was part of a paedophile gang who abused over 1,000 children between 1997 and 2013 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

In July 2013, she spoke to Andrew Norfolk at The Times, and gave evidence to prove that she has been abused, and that the authorities had failed her.

This report was published where she had named Arshid, and it exposed 1,400 other children that had been abused and failed by the authorities in Rotherham.

Arshid was jailed in February 2016 for 35 years for 23 offences, which included rape and indecent assault of nine victims, including an 11-year-old girl.

He was sentenced alongside five others, including his brothers, for a total of 102 years.

What is her book about?

Her book Just A Child tells the story of how she was abused by Arshid, and failed by the authorities that were meant to be protecting her.

Thanks to Sammy speaking up, the child abuse gang was exposed, and she aims to protect other children from suffering abuse.

The book aims to raise awareness of how children can be exploited, in the hope that it can be prevented.

It came out in April 2018, and can be bought from for £5.75.

Sammy also has a detailing her public speaking and campaign work.
