‘Prima donna’ Meghan Markle split with ex-boyfriend Cory Vitiello ‘over a pasta dish’
MEGHAN Markle split from her ex-boyfriend Cory Vitiello over a “pasta dish”, it has been claimed.
The US actress, 36, reportedly dated the hunky Canadian chef for two years between 2014 and 2016, with their relationship ending just weeks before she started seeing Prince Harry.
Cory, 38, works in Toronto, Canada, where Meghan lived while filming legal drama Suits.
They started seeing each other a year after Meghan’s divorce from producer Trevor Engelson.
According to the , their relationship was “serious” but it hit the rocks when he began to tire of her increasingly “prima donna-like” behaviour.
Their source claims Meghan would frequently use her fame to bag the best tables at restaurants.
And one night during a dinner party with friends it is reported that she took credit for coming up with the recipe for a courgette pasta dish, despite that accolade belonging to Cory.
This was allegedly the straw that broke the camel’s back.
However, Cory’s mum Joanne speaks very highly of her son’s ex, who apparently had “no airs and graces” when she visited them at their Brantford home at Christmas in 2015, two hours’ drive from Toronto.
Mrs Vitiello said: “She was very interested in being with the people she was with. She had a good sense of humour, and she’s very personable.”
She told how the pair were living together and things were “serious” between them but Cory has never told her why they broke up.
Joanne said she had “never heard” the pasta story, but revealed she and her son’s ex remained in touch – and Meghan sent her a message to say she was dating someone else.
When rumours of the actress’s relationship with Prince Harry began to circulate, Cory refused to comment – as did a friend of his when asked if the Prince was part of the reason they broke up.
With their matching rugged good looks, there’s no doubt Meghan has a “type”.
And it seems Cory isn’t bitter. He simply said: “Meghan’s a wonderful girl, and I’m very proud of her.”
Though that didn’t stop him posting a video of cooking chickens hours after Prince Harry revealed he proposed over a roast…
Fabulous reached out to Buckingham Palace, who refused to comment on Meghan’s relationship with Cory.
Meghan and Prince Harry will wed on May 19.
The forthcoming royal nuptials are sure to be a star-studded affair, with the couple boasting a host of high-profile pals including the Beckhams.
Earlier this week we told how Meghan Markle’s sister blasted the bride-to-be for not inviting her own family.
Samantha accused the couple of inviting “complete strangers” – and claims “no one” from the Markle clan made the coveted guest list.
She tweeted: “Out of respect and humanitarianism, the Markles should be invited if 2,000 complete strangers are.
“Our uncle, brother, me, best friend of 30 years, nephews. Our issue is not a matter of closeness. Family is family.”
