This is why you should NEVER use shower gel or conditioner to shave your legs

Shaving can be a chore - but cutting corners is a big 'no-no'

SHAVING can be time consuming and sometimes we cut corners when it comes to what we use as shaving cream.

But while some of us turn to using regular shampoo, conditioner or shower gel to save time (or money), it turns out that this is a big “no-no”.

According to dermatologist Dr Anita Sturnham, who is also a Venus ambassador and skincare expert, it's worth forking out for a dedicated shaving cream.

She told : “Shaving has a naturally exfoliating mechanism of action, so you need to use products that are designed to work in synergy with your razor and improve glide, reduce friction, and the risk of irritation and cuts.

“These formulations will coat the hairs, making them thicker and more difficult to shave.”

And, if that hasn’t put you off, using the wrong product can also also blunt your razor.

Dr Sturnham added: “It can clog your razors, which ultimately means using your razor more often for results that aren't as smooth.”
