Stacey Dooley talks always eating out, snuggling on the sofa and working abroad

Stacey's work means she can sometimes be away from home for weeks on end

I ALWAYS hit the snooze button. My alarm goes off at 8am, but I won’t get up for another half an hour.

I need two or three cups of tea before I can even contemplate leaving for work, so I’ll have a quick brew then take my bulldog Bernie for a walk on the beach. That’s usually the only exercise I do – I really should try to get fitter. I don’t have an excuse because my boyfriend Sam is a personal trainer. Occasionally we’ll do a boxing workout together, but that’s very rare.

My breakfast is the only meal I’ll cook.

I’ll whip up salmon and eggs on brown toast, or sometimes eggs with soldiers.

I try to be semi-healthy, but I’ve got into a really bad routine of never food shopping. My fridge is always bare!

I’m away a lot and I hate the thought of having to chuck out loads of unused groceries, plus it’s so easy just to pop to a restaurant. I should stop, though – it’s so over the top and expensive!

Commuting is a pain.

When I’m working in the UK, I’ll jump on the train from Brighton to London. It’s always heaving and I never get a seat.

I feel like all of the Londoners have moved here because no one could afford nice flats in the city. Despite the hectic commute, I love it down here – it’s great being so close to the beach, and in summer it feels like you’re on holiday.

Working abroad can be tough.

Before lunch I’ll have meetings, then I usually grab a sarnie before calling people all over the world to set up interviews for future documentaries.

The time difference can make it quite tricky to get hold of everyone.

I love my job and it’s not often that I get stressed, but when I’m on location it’s a different story.

You can plan everything to the nth degree but something always ends up going wrong when we’re filming. It’s a nightmare.

I always fall asleep on the train home.

I can nod off anywhere. Once when I was little, I even slept through a car crash.

I need to stop because people have taken photos of me snoozing on the train and posted them on social media – it’s so embarrassing!

My favourite place in the world is my sofa.

I’m such a homebody.

It’s actually quite tragic because if I’m out for drinks I’ll constantly be thinking about when it’s acceptable for me to leave.

During the week I go home around 9pm.

Most evenings I’ll light a few candles, get snuggled on the sofa and read a magazine.

Sam and Bernie will chill out with me, too, and we might order a takeaway.

After the news at 10pm I’ll be in bed and sound asleep by 11pm. I’m so un-rock-’n’-roll!
