Woman reveals why you should never rip off your acrylic nails… and how to cure them with this one trick
She claims it won't stop her getting her nails done in the future
FALSE nails are the stuff of Instagram dreams.
It simply isn’t possible to take a mirror selfie with cracked and chipped nails, but the addiction to getting them done can cost you a healthy set of cuticles.
Beauty blogger Amelia Perrin found out how getting acrylic nail sets over and over can ruin your natural set underneath.
Her Instagram is usually full of long talons of every shade and shape, but she revealed the harsh reality in an honest Tweet.
She stated that the pictured depicted the “reality” of attempting to get your nails perfect.
The nails appeared broken and peeled away as the layers had been damaged.
Amelia also said that the pain from the nails were worse than the way they looked.
She claimed that she “nearly cried in the shower” when her nail beds were hit by the water.
The blogger normally gets her nails removed professionally in the salon before getting a new set. However, this time she ripped her acrylics off as she didn’t have time.
Celebrity nail artist Britney Tokyo, who deals with the nails of Kim Kardashian, Rita Ora and FKA Twigs told Racked that the removal of false nails is what causes the damage.
She said: “It’s not bad for your nails, but removing them incorrectly can lead to damage.”
The regular Instagrammer then posted a picture of her recovered nails with a significant difference.
She claimed she took two types of biotin every day for five days to restore the broken fingernails.
Biotin tablets have also been praised for helping maintain normal skin and hair growth.
Amelia also commented under the photo of her newly restored nails that she won’t stop getting her nails done, and branded herself as the “girl who never learns”.
With online nail trends and celebs constantly showing off their manicures, we’re not sure these broken nails will make salons shut their doors anytime soon.
