The stars share their support for Fabulous’ #OvarIt Campaign
Fabulous has launched the much-needed #OvarIt campaign to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer – a disease that kills 11 women EVERY day
LAST Sunday Fabulous launched the much-needed #OvarIt campaign to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer – a disease that kills 11 women EVERY day.
Joining forces with the charity Target Ovarian Cancer, we discovered that a shocking four in five women admitted they couldn’t name one major symptom, so it’s become our aim to arm every woman with the very knowledge that could save their lives.
On top of producing a ‘cut out and keep’ symptoms check list, we also had one simple ask: help raise awareness by sharing a selfie with the number of 11 on your hand, representing the number of women who lose their lives daily to this disease.
And we’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received, especially as dozens of celebs have got on board, from the likes of Katie Piper and Alexandra Burke to Strictly’s Aljaz Skorjanec and Michelle Heaton, all keen to share our message with their thousands of followers.
When presenter and Target Ovarian Cancer patron Gaby Roslin shared her selfie, she later posted: “The stories I am hearing are utterly heartbreaking. #OvarIt.”
The Food Medic Hazel Wallace also received thousands of likes for her post, with some followers vowing to see their doctor after discovering they had potential symptoms.
The symptoms you NEED to be aware of
1. Persistent bloating
2. Feeling full quickly and loss of appetite
3. Pelvic or abdominal pain
4. Needing to wee more urgently or more often than usual
5. Changes in bowel movements (e.g. diarrhoea or constipation)
6. Extreme fatigue
7. Unexplained weight loss.

But despite all this amazing support, it’s vital we keep the message going, so please remember to share that selfie (tagging in @fabulousmag and @targetovarian) and nominate 11 people to do the same by tagging them in.
And don’t forget our vital hashtag, because we’re #OvarIt. Are you?
This week we spoke to five ovarian cancer survivors who share their inspirational stories and tell us how they got #OvarIt.
