According to the calulator's results based on 1,000 ladies, the average woman in the UK uses 12 beauty products in her usual beauty routine.

The average woman also wears a total of £2.39 worth of products a day.

The average annual beauty spend is said to be £482.50, which is the same price as return flights to Barcelona for two.

We took the step-by-step quiz - and the results were staggeringly high.

I am a self confessed 19-year-old make-up addict, and constantly have friends and family dragging me out of cosmetics stores whenever we are out shopping, screaming at me that I 'don't need anymore!'

Of course in my mind, (and being from Essex) I absolutely need as much as I can stuff in my dressing table drawer.

I currently have five high-end brand eyeshadow palettes, each costing around £45-£50, four foundations between £10-£25 and three mascaras between £25-£40.

Despite this, I won't change my make-up or spending habits. I love creative make-up, and since I don't waste money elsewhere, it seems to always work out fine!

One of our writers Natalie Keegan, 26, from Epping, found that her total annual spend was a whopping £4,410, and admitted the disovery was eye-opening.

She said: "I am a total beauty addict so I’m not surprised that I spend A LOT on products – but totted up for the year, this is pretty shocking."

"More worrying for me is I only considered one item per answer I gave, when in reality I own multiple premium day creams, night creams, foundations and various other products – I LOVE shopping for makeup and skincare and looking after myself chills me out.

"I also have a monthly facial, at an average of £70, get my nails done every three weeks at £30 a pop, have semi-permanent makeup and get an LVL treatment on my lashes every six weeks – to name but a few."

With an extensive make-up collection, Lauren, 29 from Clapham, found that she spent £3,452.40 a year on make-up alone.

Her favourite products include Charlotte Tillbury Magic Night Cream, which is priced at £100.

She also uses Armani luminous silk foundation, £48, and Make Up For Ever Professional Aqua Liner, £17.50.

You can take the test for yourself too, but judging by our scores, you might want to prepare yourselves for a shock.

The prices can appear staggering, but when you have a fabulous make-up collection it's almost entirely worth it.
