What is the 100 Years Younger experiment?

A group of celebrities have signed up to 100 Years Younger in 21 Days, a lifestyle overhaul experiment with the aim of seeing if they can slash 100 years off their collective age.

The celebrities talking part are East Enders legend June Brown, presenter Roy Walker, musician Shaun Ryder, astrologer Russell Grant, actress and presenter Sherrie Hewson, actress Claire King, East Enders Sid Owen and TV personality Sandra Martin.

In the four-part series, the stars travel to Sardinia, where they are subject to testing to see how old they are, inside and out, before being put on strict diets, exercise regimes and undergoing unorthodox treatments.

Some of the stranger treatments include cow urine shampoos, snail facials and coffee enemas.

Can the ageing process be stopped?

The aim of 100 Years Younger is to determine if the ageing process can be 'stopped'.

While biological ageing can't be halted, there are certain lifestyle changes that can be made to help the visible and non-visible effects of ageing.

These include stopping smoking, taking up exercise, reducing alcohol intake and sun exposure.
