A lilac highlighter is guaranteed to make you gleam, whatever your skin tone, whether you like to dab, dust or swipe.
Dab It
“Use a liquid highlighter under your base to give skin a soft gleam, or on top of your foundation on the parts of your face that naturally catch the light,” recommends Mac senior artist Dominic Skinner.
Dust It
“Using a small, tapered blending brush instead of a blusher brush will give you more control over placing powder highlighter in all the right places,” says Dominic.
Swipe It
“With your fingertips, pat cream highlighter on to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and Cupid’s bow. Your fingers will warm the product so it melts into your skin,” explains Dominic.

Whatever lipstick I wear, I can’t stop it from bleeding over the outline. Is there anything that will lock it into place? Jane, Essex
The best way to encourage staying power is by prepping properly.
Start with an exfoliator like , which contains moisturising shea butter and sugar particles to get rid of dry skin.
Then apply an intensive balm such as , before you start your make-up routine, so it has time to absorb.
Just an FYI – avoid products containing camphor, phenol or menthol, which can dehydrate.
Once you’ve prepped, apply a lipliner all over that matches the shade. This not only gives your lippy something to grip on to, but it also means that if it wears off in any areas it won’t be as obvious.
Then apply lipstick and blot with a tissue before adding another layer. A brilliant tip is to use concealer along the outside of your lipline, which acts as a barrier and defines your pout to give you the perfect finish.
