ACTRESS Chelsee Healey has been slammed on social media for piercing her baby daughter’s ears.
The Hollyoaks star welcomed Coco with partner Jack Molloy in July last year, and since then has shared photos and videos of her on social media.
But a recent clip uploaded to has received widespread criticism after fans were quick to spot Coco’s ears were pierced.
The 29-year-old captioned the video “I literally will never get over how beautiful she is”, followed by a series of emojis, showing Coco snuggled on a blanket sucking a dummy.
The clip – which has received more than one hundred comments – shows a small sparkling stud in her ear.
People were quick to accuse the Waterloo Road actress of cruelty, with one person replying to say: “It should be illegal! Lol. It looks awful and any mother who purposely inflicts pain on their child is CRUEL.”
Another said: “How you looked at your baby crying for your own selfish reasons is beyond me. You inflicted pain on a baby.”
One person went further to say: “Just remember, they are YOUR children, you do NOT own their bodies. Therefor you should not do ANYTHING that THEY might not want to have. [sic]
“It’s like someone coming at you with a tattoo gun or a piercing gun with a gag on your mouth so you can’t tell them no and FORCING you to have something you might not want coz you cannot speak and say no!”
And another simply said: “F****g disgusting and completely unnecessary.”
Another wrote: “Not to mention it looks completely chavvy and horrible. Let babies be babies! They aren't dolls.”
But some jumped to the defence of Chelsee, who has more than 300,000 followers on the social media site.
Some confessed to piercing their own children’s ears at a young age, or said they had them done when they were small.
One mum wrote: “I got my daughters ears pierced at 4 months and what? She cried for 2 minutes and was over it. Get over it.
“If she wants to take it out when she's older then fine but in the meantime I decide.”
This person also supported the mum-of-one, replying: “I'm pretty sure most parents get their babies ear pieced when they’re young there's nothing wrong with ear piercing.”
A family tradition for this person, they said: “Mine were pieced when I was a baby so were my sisters and my mum it's pretty normal.”
And another said: “Wtf there's no problem with piecing a baby's ear at then end of the day the baby's guardian makes the decisions.”
Also adding support was this user, who wrote: “Knew people would be hating on her ear piercings I got both my girls done at 4 months old and?? Our babies our choice.”
She's not the first one to cause controversy when it comes to kids' appearances, as personal trainer Ashy Bines was criticised after she created workout videos aimed at children.
And earlier today another mum sparked debate by asking if three-years-old is too old to breastfeed.
