FOUNDER of high-end fashion house Versace, Giovanni Maria Versace, is credited with creating some of the brands most iconic outfits, accessories and perfumes.

The Italian designer tragically died in 1997 when he was shot outside his Miami home by deranged serial killer Andrew Cunanan.

Cunanan committed suicide eight days later. Giovanni’s body was cremated in Italy and his ashes were scattered near his family home in Italy.

But years on, the Italian designer’s passion for luxury fashions and his iconic dresses still live on.

Gianni founded the fashion house in 1978 and quickly gained international recognition for his bold designs and sexy silhouettes.

He also became known for stocking up his front row with big name celebs like Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangeliasta and Christy Turlington.

When is The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story on?

The show made its British debut on BBC Two on February 28 2018 at 9pm.

Those who miss any of the nine-part series will be able to catch up on BBC iPlayer.

The American series went head-to-head with BBC One murder mystery Shetland and ITV favourite Benidorm.

US viewers were given a head start on the drama, which was officially released on FX on Wednesday, January 17.
