The Italian designer tragically died in 1997 when he was shot outside his Miami home by deranged serial killer Andrew Cunanan.
Cunanan committed suicide eight days later. Giovanni's body was cremated in Italy and his ashes were scattered near his family home in Italy.
But years on, the Italian designer's passion for luxury fashions and his iconic dresses still live on.
Gianni founded the fashion house in 1978 and quickly gained international recognition for his bold designs and sexy silhouettes.
He also became known for stocking up his front row with big name celebs like Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangeliasta and Christy Turlington.
