But the purse-friendly undies are causing some confusion online, as the brand’s lacy black knicker-and-bra set with a matching “waspie” has left many mystified.

British blogger Zoe London sparked a surge of online reactions after she tweeted a photo of the lingerie set questioning what the waspie actually for - and many were equally baffled.

and comes with a matching black lace bra and knickers - with the cost for the whole set totalling £27.

Zoe captioned her Twitter post: “Um, sure? What’s the middle bit for?”

And some said they wouldn't even know how to “get into” the lingerie - which has a bra-like clasp at the back.

One joked: “I'd be so knackered from wrestling this on, nobody would be touching me afterwards.

“I'd need an early night (with a hot water bottle and slipper socks).”

Someone else commented: “How do you even get into this?”

Meanwhile, others provided tongue-in-cheek suggestions about what the waspie’s purpose was.

One user joked: “Keep the belly button pokers away?”

Generally, waspies are designed to cinch in the waist and be attached to suspenders that hold up stockings - the Boohoo version doesn't include clips to attach anything to, but does help give the illusion of an hour-glass figure.

The lace set is also available in bright red.
