The emoji you should NEVER use when trying to chat someone up – as it could put them off
The emojis you’re using could be damaging your chances when it comes to wooing the object of your affections
WE’RE swiftly heading towards Valentine’s Day… but could the emoji’s you’re using be letting you down when it comes to the date stakes?
The shops are filled with roses and chocolates and all kinds of lovey-dovey gifts – but the emojis you’re using could be damaging your chances when it comes to wooing the object of your affections.
It seems that there are a couple of the popular icons that you definitely need to avoid this February 14, according to research carried out by .
And it seems daters shouldn’t be “cheeky” with their emojis, as 29 per cent of people are put off by the winky face emoji.
The second and third most disliked emojos are the kissing face (19 per cent) and heart eyes (17 per cent).
And, some emojis seem to put women off more than men - including the diamond ring, the bicep and the eggplant.
For men, it's side eyes, poop and the cat with heart eyes.
Worryingly for singles, many of the emojis on the “turn off” list also appear on the most common list.
Martina Mercer, relationship expert at Sunday Woman Magazine, said: "Emojis can be a minefield as different people interpret them in different ways.
"There are some that should be used sparingly, and others which should be retained until the relationship has reached a certain level.
"For instance, the cat with love eyes emoji signifies a very deep connection to the other person and a declaration of love - although it can also be used to show adoration for food.
"The aubergine emoji is particularly naughty, and should really only be used if the relationship has reached the sex phase, the same is true of the dripping water emoji.
"If in doubt, follow your partner's lead. See how they use emojis and follow suit to play it safe."
Maybe it’s best to just stick to a few kisses…
