Balenciaga’s £600 CROCS have already sold out… and they haven’t even been released yet
The bizarre platform shoes went on pre-sale earlier this month - and sold out within a matter of HOURS
BALENCIAGA'S bizarre platform Crocs have sold out before they've even been released - despite costing a huge £600 ($850).
The fashion world thought the designer brand had gone mad when they sent models down the runway in a statement shoes back in October, but it seems not everyone agrees.
After much anticipation, the Crocs went on pre-sale with Barneys' New York on Thursday, and every single pair flew off the shelves within hours.
The FROW at Paris Fashion Week were left gobsmacked when the chunky footwear, with 4 inch (10cm) heel, made its debut at Balenciaga's SS18 show.
They took to social media to mock the heavily embellished, re-branded version of everyone's least favourite sensible shoes.
One Twitter user wrote: "Burn Them All. Balenciaga is Cancelled".
And another added: "I'm sorry, those are the ugliest shoes I've seen so far... proves a point, you can slap a designer name on a pig & it will sell".
Backstage, the brand's designer Demna Gavasalia admitted he'd only worn Crocs for the first time in the summer.
He : "It's a very innovative shoe. It's light, it's a one-piece foam mould and to me these kind of techniques and working with these kind of materials is very Balenciaga."
The shoes are available in a range of eye-catching colours - including pink, green, yellow and grey.
