Mum sparks angry debate by asking ‘are headbands on babies chavvy?’ after her husband brands the accessory ‘trashy’
The mother took to Mumsnet to ask fellow users if headbands on babies were 'chavvy' after she put one on her daughter and her husband was 'outraged'
A MUM sparked a furious debate when she asked "Are headbands on babies chavvy?".
The woman posed the question to fellow users after she put her baby girl in a white bow headband and her husband was "outraged".
She explained that he thought the little girls' accessories were "chavvy" but that she didn't think they were and appealed for other people's opinions.
People were quick to respond with their thought on the headgear, with the majority of responses against headbands on babies.
One person said: "Personally I think they’re utterly ridiculous and look horrendous."
While another agreed: "It’s awful. Please don’t do this to her, she’s not a Yorkshire Terrier. And if I were here I’d find it really irritating."
A third person said: "Hideous. And I always feel sorry for the baby wearing them. It's probably irritating but they can't say to get it off!"
While another was also concerned it would be uncomfortable for the child.
They said: "I think they look uncomfortable for the baby. They’re not something I’d put on a baby and I do think they’re a bit naff."
There were a few people would did like the child's accessory though.
One woman said: "Yes. They can be cute provided the baby actually has some hair though."
And another agreed: "I think it's cute. My daughters used to wear them, maybe with not quite such a big bow, but I think it's pretty. Your baby, your call."
There were also a few parents who were concerned about safety of the headbands.
One mum said: "Yes, chavvy and dangerous. If they slip down over a small baby's face they can suffocate."
And another commented: "Choosing to put a strangulation risk on your child to prove they are female is stupid."
