CLASSROOM FALLOUT

Boy, six, slammed for commenting on girl’s ‘underwear’ at school, but is her mum right to be upset?

The girl’s horrified mum sent angry texts saying she was going to report the incident to the school

A MUM has asked the internet for advice after her six-year-old son was slammed for commenting on a girl’s “underwear” at school.

Taking to Mumsnet, the confused parent said the girl’s horrified mum had sent angry texts saying she was going to report the incident to the school.

The worried mum, who goes by the username of Violetvendetta, asked forum users if the girl’s mum was overreacting or being entirely reasonable.

Violetvendetta shared how the young students had been changing together for PE in a shared changing area when the encounter occurred.

She said: “[He] told a little girl (seven) he liked her vest top as I think he said it had fireworks on or something.

“I think this vest top was more of a crop top/training bra this happened yesterday I didn't know about it, according to DS [darling son] she just said Thank you.

“However this evening I have received an angry text from the girl’s mother saying she's going to have to raise this issue with the school, and suggesting I'm raising my son to grow up to have no respect and be likely to sexually assault women as at six he is already watching girls get change and commenting on their underwear.

“What do I do? What's going to happen if this goes to the school? Is she overreacting or am I being unreasonable to think this is unnecessary?”

Mumsnet users were quick to weigh in on the situation and many slammed the girl’s “bonkers” reaction.

One said: “Block her number for a start. She is bonkers. Speak to the teacher though, she can't be going around spreading crap like that about your ds!!”

Another said: “Mother is mental I would be tempted to reply but probably best not to.

“I would make the school aware in the morning and maybe some other mothers at school gates so your version is know.

“The last thing you would want is for her to label your son with these horrible accusations and for it to be school gossip.”

Meanwhile one said: “What a silly woman. Ignore her.”

And one mum wrote: “It doesn't sound like your son did anything wrong, but it possible the little girl felt uncomfortable anyway and that's what had upset her mother.

“I think taking a softly softly approach and just explaining your POV to the teacher is sensible. I certainly don't think it is reasonable to say your son is likely to end up a sex offender!”

Some of the mums said the boy's parent could use the situation to teach him about boundaries

However some parents on the site said the mum should use the opportunity to have a chat with her son.

One wrote: “Just tell him not to be looking at the girls underwear or bodies, because they dont like it.

“Commenting on someones underwear isnt nice.”

Previously a mum asked Mumsnet users if women would still marry their partner if they could go back in time and the brutally honest replies will shock you.

And a mum shared the VERY unusual way she dries herself after having a bath or shower… and her husband is not impressed.
