FASHION fans can snap up dozens of bargains in the New Year sales.
The likes of Debenhams, House Of Fraser and John Lewis are offering huge discounts on stylish wares – with some items slashed by a staggering 79 per cent.
But some consumer experts believe that slashing prices so dramatically can lead to a loss of consumer confidence.
A recent survey for Radio 4’s consumer programme You And Yours, showed that 60 per cent of us believe a retailer’s image is devalued if it is always on sale.
Julie Palmer, a business recovery expert, revealed: “Shoppers are savvier and prepared to search for the best deals, having grown wise to gimmicks and discounts on offer in store, which many now realise may not be as good as they first appear.”
