I’m A Celeb berry-gate suggests ‘selfish’ love cheat Amir Khan has ‘no remorse’ in his relationship, says top psychologist
AMIR Khan’s behaviour on I’m A Celeb could shed light on the troubles in his marriage to Faryal Makhdoom.
The I’m a Celeb campmates were fuming when the sportsman teamed up with Iain Lee and collected a Dingo Dollar Challenge Prize without sharing it out.
On last night’s show, the mischievous duo scoffed the strawberries and cream meant for all of their co-stars.
But even though Amir masterminded the plan, he didn’t hesitate in letting let his accomplice take the blame.
So does the disloyalty show the boxer’s true colours?
Here, behavioural expert Jo Hemmings passes her verdict on how #StrawberryGate could reflect the star’s personality.
After watching the awkward segment, the celebrity psychologist revealed that Amir’s personality allowed him to sacrifice the team spirit for his own selfish needs.
Jo said: “It seems almost incredulous that he did it – but it does show that he’s very low on empathy.
“He doesn’t actually see actions and consequences of his actions.
“He’s almost quite childlike; he’s emotionally immature, low on empathy and kind of stupid.
“It’s how a three year old will be, when he can’t see the bigger picture.”
Jo thinks that betraying his co-stars could’ve cost Amir a chance at succeeding in the competition.
Even though the camp-mate is naturally competitive, partaking in solo sports may have skewed his view on teamwork.
The psychologist said: “At first, he blended in pretty well and everyone was very supportive.
“But I think he struggles that this is a reality show and someone will be crowned King or Queen of the jungle.
“And actually, to get to that process it’s incredibly supportive and there’s a lot of teamwork involved.
“He’s used to competing on his own – if he was in a football team or whatever he’d get that more.
“It’s as if he just can’t quite grasp how to do it.”
While it may seem like everyone’s making a fuss over some strawberries and cream, the behavioural expert believes that Amir’s actions reflect how he behaves when he’s not on telly.
She also thinks that the sportsman, who has been accused of cheating on his wife Faryal on numerous occasions, would not take responsibility for his philandering.
Jo revealed: “If he cheated, I think what you’d find is that he’d either go into denial or find a reason to justify it.
“And again, that shows the kind of remorse he doesn’t have.
“Rather than man up and say ‘yep I screwed up, I’m stupid’, he doesn’t seem to be able to do that.
“If that spilled into his love life that’s probably the same approach that he’d take.”
There has been tension between Amir and Faryal this year.
Things got messy in August, when explosive tweets from Amir Khan’s Twitter account claimed he has split from wife.
The sportsman even accused her of cheating on him with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua.
Despite this, the pair seem to have reconciled.
This month, Amir Khan revealed he is back with pregnant wife Faryal Makhdoom by posting a cute snap of the pair cuddling up together.
