Twitter reacts to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first TV interview since they got engaged

THE internet has reacted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first TV interview since getting engaged - and it seems there isn't a dry eye in the house.

The smitten couple announced that they would wed earlier today, and shortly afterwards sat down for a chat with BBC journalist Michelle Hussain.

In their first interview since announcing plans to wed, the smitten young royal, 33, claimed his mother would have loved the American actress.

Harry, who popped the question earlier this month, proposed with a ring he personally designed featuring two diamonds which once belonged to Diana.

Asked what his mother would have made of the news, Harry told the BBC: "Oh they'd be thick as thieves, without question.

"I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends - best friends with Meghan.

"So no it's - you know it is days like - days like today when - when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news.

Prince Harry says his mother, Princess Diana, would have been 'over the moon' about his engagement to Meghan Markle

"But you know with the ring and with everything else that's going on I'm sure she's…"

Suits star Meghan, 36, then jumped in to finish Harry's sentence, explaining: "She's with us".

People at home loved seeing the chemistry between the young royal and his actress bride-to-be.

Earlier today people were left in awe after Meghan flashed the stunning engagement ring Harry had designed especially for her.

The couple made their first public appearance since making the announcement in a photo call outside Kensington Palace.

During the event, she proudly flashed her sparkly three-stone ring and smiled for the cameras.

The stunning, yellow gold ring was designed by Prince Harry himself and includes a central stone from Botswana, where the pair recently went on holiday, and two diamonds from Diana's collection.

Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to Her Majesty The Queen all helped with the creation of the dazzling jewellery piece.

People are wondering if the couple will get married at Westminster Abbey.

But sadly it doesn't look like we will get a Bank Holiday to mark their big day.
