What is Prince Harry's title after he married Meghan Markle?

Harry's title was Prince Henry of Wales - but the Queen bestowed a new title on Harry on his wedding day, as she did with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Prince became The Duke of Sussex,  a title which had been vacant since 1843.

Kensington Palace announced: "The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales.  His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel.

"Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex."

Is Meghan Markle a princess?

When they married, Meghan adopted the female equivalent of Harry's name, so became Duchess of Sussex.

And the actress won't be known as Princess Meghan.

Instead, her title by marriage will be Her Royal Highness Princess Henry of Wales.

While she is technically a Princess, it's not customary for her to use the title, just as Kate doesn't.

What else has changed for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

Now that Meghan has officially joined the Royal Family, she will be encouraged to follow protocol.

In the past, the Suits actress has been vocal in her political views - posting an anti-Brexit Instagram post and slating President Donald Trump.

Appearing on the Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore, Meghan said she planned to move to Canada if Trump got into the White House.

But as a royal, she will be expected to stay politically neutral - and has also ended her acting career.

In October 2018 the couple announced they were expecting their first child, who would be due in the spring.

Baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6 2019 at the Portland Hospital in London.
