The best Christmas song is always a hot topic for debate, but what tops the polls?
WHEN it comes to festive songs, you probably have a favourite tune you like to play from mid November right up until the big day.
From Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody to Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas there are plenty of yuletide melodies to choose from - so is yours the top choice for Britain?
In 2017 The eighties classic Fairytale of New York was named the nation’s favourite festive song – even beating Mariah Carey to the top.
The 1987 hit by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl is a huge hit at Christmas and it’s for a pretty strange reason.
Apparently lovers of the song feel it is an accurate reflection of a British Christmas, complete with family arguments over the turkey.
The tune beat Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas and Wham’s Last Christmas in several polls over the past few years to be voted the nation’s favourite.
However the three songs are a consistent subject of debate in every household over the festive period.
And experts say we like The Pogues tune because it avoids the fluffy image other songs have of a perfect Christmas.
So do you relate to this choice of festive song?
