Piper Perabo played the leading role in the coming-of-age movie set in a rowdy New York bar
COMING of age movie Coyote Ugly told the story of a small town girl trying to become a singer/songwriter while making her money at a rowdy bar.
Actress Piper Perabo played the leading role of Violet, who moved to New York City to try and get her big break.
But with confidence lacking she takes a job in the Coyote Ugly boozer run by tough boss Lil where her staff dance on the bar for the punters.
At first Piper's character is too shy to control the rowdy bar, but after finding herself with a microphone in her hand, she manages to overcome her stage fright by singing and builds her confidence.
On the way she makes friends with other coyotes, including the character Zoe played by Tyra Banks and strikes up a romance with Adam Garcia's part of Kevin.
The movie ends with Violet performing at an opening night and landing a recording contract.
And in the end it is revealed that pop singer LeAnn Rimes has recorded her song and they all perform for one last time on the Coyote Ugly bar.
Since the film was released in 2000, Piper from Texas, moved away from commercial films and seemed to fade from the limelight.
But she did pick up parts in films such as The Prestige and Beverly Hills Chihuahua and later landed a role in TV series Covert Affairs.
These days Piper is still acting but has yet to find a box office smash on the same scale as Coyote Ugly.
The 40-year-old recently starred in the film Looper and landed a role in the short-lived crime drama Notorious.
In 2014 she married New Zealand screenwriter Stephen Kay in New York City and she is also close pals with Game of Thrones star Lena Headey.
