Residents in Norfolk have had to move their letter boxes to help a postman left terrified by an infatuated DOVE
Affectionate bird Harold developed a crush on Royal Mail worker Neil Davies and tries to land on his head whenever he tries to deliver the post
NEIGHBOURS are putting post boxes at the ends of their drives to help a postman terrified by a wild dove.
The bird named Harold has a crush on Neil Davies and tries to land on his head.
Residents do not want to lose him, nor the dove which has nested on their rooftops since April.
So they decided on the switch to let Neil do his job in St Michael’s Road in Long Stratton, Norfolk, as quickly as possible.
Yesterday Neil was not on his round, which was covered by Alison Preston, 51.
As Harold, called Ringo by some, swooped she said: “I’ve never seen anything like it. He’s very, very friendly.”
Earlier another colleague, David Chamberlain, 53, posed for a snap with Harold perched on his head.
Resident Joan Angier, 71, said: “He’s a lovely bird. I think the postman just has a phobia of him.”
Royal Mail spokesman Henry Perry said: “While this all seems lighthearted, we do take bird and animal attacks very seriously.”
The Sun told in April how a 6ft postie refused to deliver to a family as he was terrified by their pet Chihuahua called Tiny in Daventry, Northants.
