Diane was born in Billingham, a town in County Durham, in 1970.

Following a career in gymnastics, dance and choreography, she rose to fame after landing a role on ITV's Gladiators.

After a glittering run on British telly, her on-screen alter-ego Jet was forced to retire after suffering an injury during the live Wembley Arena show in 1996.

What did Diane Youdale do after Gladiators?

Due to Diane's popularity, it was no surprise that there was a demand to keep her on TV.

She played Billy in The New Adventures of Robin Hood in 1997, as well as presenting various dance shows and documentaries.

Youdale also worked as a children's telly host on Games World, You Bet! and Finders Keepers.

Even though she hung up her Lycra costume, the Gladiator star remained invested in sport.
