Britain’s most unusual baby names for 2017 have been revealed… but would you call your child Agape, Onyx or Oswin?

BRITAIN'S most unusual boys' and girls' baby names for 2017 have been revealed - and some are sure to make your child is always remembered.

So while Olivias and Olivers are everywhere in Britain, has unveiled some offbeat alternatives which are sure to make your baby stand out.

From Birdie to Tadgh, all of these names were registered only three times last year, according to Office for National Statistics data.

That means that they are among the rarest in the country - and it's not hard to see why.

In fact, you can bet that calling your son Marvellous will guarantee he's the only one with that name in his class.

Alongside that complimentary moniker, Ajax, Dougal and Jools rank among the most unusual boys' names.

Meanwhile, Yvette, Sondos and Birdie come in as some of the UK's least common girls' names.

Many names get their inspiration from biblical roots, with Adalie an old German name meaning "God is my refuge."

Similarly, Agape (pronounced ag-a-pay) means Christian love, while Oswin is an old Scandinavian name meaning "friend of God."

Other offbeat entries include Tadgh (pronounced tie-gh), meaning "philosopher", and Oakleigh, an old English term meaning "Oak-filled meadow."

Among the girls' names, Sonali is a Bengali term for "beautiful colour", while an oracle is someone who can see the future.
