Kaia Gerber is the model of the moment as she walks for YSL during Paris Fashion Week… but is 16 too young to be on the runway?
Teenage star made it clear she is more than ready to forge a career of her own in the industry
SHE'S the model of the moment who is the spitting image of her famous mum Cindy Crawford and has fashion houses around the world desperate to sign her up.
Kaia Gerber may have recently turned 16 but she is taking over the fashion world and stole the show at yesterday’s star-studded Yves Saint Laurent Paris Fashion Week extravaganza.
Looking every inch like her supermodel mum, brunette Kaia strutted her stuff wearing the Spring/Summer '18 looks for the Ready to Wear collection by Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello.
Donning a selection of chic outfits, Kaia was the centre of attention – which was no mean feat considering the event took place with the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop.
Her looks included a glittering off-the-shoulder black dress with eye-catching drop earrings and her hair scraped back in a simple knot.
And for her next look she paired black shorts with a low v-necked patterned blouse.
Kaia's make-up look was kept simple and her youthful glow shone through as she walked the runway.
Kaia, who is also the daughter of Rande Gerber, is following in her 51-year-old mum’s modelling footsteps too – as thanks to her great genes has already appeared in Vogue and modelled for Versace.
Kaia recently said she always wanted to follow in her mum's footsteps and become a model.
But some have pointed out she is young to be hitting the fashion catwalks at the youthful age of 16, and have taken to Twitter to share their views.
One said: "Kaia Gerber is what I call A MODEL. She is unbelievable even though she is really young!!!"
Kaia first started modelling aged ten after bagging a job with Versace and hasn't looked back since.
But her mum became a popular face in the fashion world slightly later in life.
She entered the Elite Model Management's Look of the Year contest when she was 17 where she was the runner-up, and then she became represented by Elite Model Management in Chicago.
She later started studying chemical engineering at Northwestern University but dropped out in order to pursue a full-time modeling career.
Carole White, director of Premier, one of the UK's leading model agencies, said to the : "For London Fashion Week, girls have to wait until they're over 16. We have to provide documentation.
"Before then it's possible that they could work, but it would be unpaid, editorial work."

Kaia seems unconcerned by starting in the industry as a teen, and told : My favourite thing about being a model is the people that I meet.
"I don’t think there’s any other job where you get to learn so many things about so many different people.
"I just love forging new relationships.”
Kaia also admitted it can be "difficult" to juggle school, modelling work and her social life.
She said: “It’s really difficult, because you have a lot of different things going on.
"I go to school everyday, and that does come first.”
The teen has signed up for campaigns for Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang.
Earlier this summer, Cindy wowed her fans as she and Kaia stepped out for a night out together.
The pair looked strikingly similar as they headed home after a late dinner together at Malibu’s posh Japanese eatery, Nobu.
Kaia looked the spitting image of her model mum when she celebrated her 16th birthday earlier this month.
Last year she was unveiled as the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty at the age of just 15.
